About
Hi! I’m Alex Cianchino, a Character Designer and Visual Development Artist based in Toronto, Canada.
I’ve spent the past five years working in animation, primarily in pre-production as a Character Designer, Colour Designer, and Assistant Art Director. Along the way, I’ve contributed to projects for Netflix, Hulu, CBC, and productions across studios in Toronto and Vancouver.
I love designing characters that feel like they’ve lived a life before we ever meet them. A lot of my inspiration comes from people, culture, fashion, film, sports, and the little details I notice while sketching out in the world. I’m especially drawn to expressive characters, strong shape language, and finding the personality and story underneath a design.
Outside of art, I’m a lifelong soccer fanatic, collect comics, and love films and stories rooted in epic fantasy, mythology, and medieval worlds like Tolkien, Game of Thrones, and Arthurian legend are particular favourites. I also enjoy sketching people out in public whenever I get the chance.
Thanks for stopping by!
